I first started coming to this shop in 2020 and had great experiences. Definitely overpriced, but I expected somewhat of an up charge being so close to USC campus (pretty easy to take advantage of desperate college students whose parents may be far away but whiling to sign a check). Typically the shop crew is very friendly and does a decent job of assessing issues. I also love the online quotes they send for approval. However, I took my vehicle in this week for an oil change, tire rotation and to have my AC checked out - it had stopped working one year after I paid upwards of $400 to have them fix it. I'm from rural NC and have a pretty decent knowledge of general car maintenance. When dropping my car off this week the crew member helping me out tried to initially quote me $180 for my AC before running any tests. When I questioned the quote he said well it could be free or it could cost more depending on what it is, so that was his quote. I told him I am declining for now because I wasn't sure if I would even get my AC fixed that day and I would approve the quote when knowing what the issue was and the actual cost to repair. I could tell he got frustrated and didn't look me in the eyes for the remainder of our interaction or respond when I told him thanks and to have a good day after handing over my keys. I had a strong feeling he thought I was a vulnerable female and assume I didn't know what I was doing. Especially considering last time I got my AC fixed here I was not quoted for anything until they did an assessment and knew what work needed to be done. I'm not sure if who I dealt with on the phone was the same crew member from before, but later on I received a call from Ash, telling me he would not rotate my tires because they all needed to be replaced and my battery was shot and needed to be replaced. Also that my AC wasn't working because they would have to replace the entire condenser. (Along with the typical filter replacement up sales). $1,000+ quoted for fixes that needed "immediate" action - when I came in with no problems, only needed an oil change and tire rotation. My battery is totally fine and does not need replacement. Also, you can take it to AutoZone to be replaced free of labor cost. (They wanted to charge me $274.51) Same goes for my tires, they don't need to be replaced. It's extremely frustrating to have an experience with one crew member ruin a good rapport, but ultimately, I don't think I will be coming back to the shop. I've been overcharged one too many times, and I don't feel comfortable with crew members trying to take advantage of young females.
Marianna, we are sorry that you feel this way! There were several issues that needed to be addressed which we had included (along with photos) in your inspection report i.e. filters, battery, and tires. We would be happy to go over them and explain your vehicle's issues more in-depth. One of the reasons we feel our digital inspections are effective as a communications tool is they allow our customers to have confidence and trust in our recommendations. Clearly, this did not come across as intended. We value you as a customer and want to be as open and transparent as possible! In that effort, if there's anything we can do to assist you, feel free to reach out by text or phone at (323) 733-1236 or email at [email protected].
